We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

It was when I wandered through my father’s bookshelves that I knew I wanted to be a painter. My father’s bookshelves were full of books on art studies, which piqued my curiosity. My father’s best friend was an art teacher, so perhaps there was a reason for their presence. I liked to draw and paint, and often sketched landscapes and portraits inspired by the illustrations in those books. In junior high school, I would sometimes draw for my classmates, and I was often praised for it. In the small town where I lived, no one seemed to make a living from art, so I kept this passion quiet.

After earning a college degree in Communication Art, I began working as a Graphic Designer for a magazine where I met many artists and people who made their living from art. This experience further opened my eyes to the possibilities of pursuing art professionally.

I also had the opportunity to travel around Paris and discovered that art and culture thrive in every corner of the city, from street corner murals to grand galleries. Inspired, I decided to take art classes to learn more and gain confidence. Eventually, I was able to create and sell my artwork and finally be able to live as an artist. Often inspired by travel and personal reflection, my art continues to evolve, exploring new mediums and styles as I share my perspective with the world.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

NATHAN NEVEN: A dreamy fusion of classical interiors and urban energy.

Born in 1979, I create paintings that combine sophistication and surrealism, transforming familiar interiors into dreamlike sanctuaries. Carefully detailed compositions, illuminated by warm atmospheric light, evoke nostalgia while retaining a contemporary appeal. Through the interplay of expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colors, I invite the viewer into an immersive space that stirs the imagination.

My signature style is defined by inspiring interiors, luxurious libraries, grand bars and intimate living rooms, each with its own unique mood.

Architectural elements such as intricate wood paneling, vintage chandeliers and upholstered armchairs create an atmosphere of warmth and sophistication. Deep reds, golds and rich browns enhance the sense of luxury and draw the viewer into a timeless and seductive world.

A unique feature of my work is the seamless integration of interior and

exterior space. Large windows and open arches reveal sweeping cityscapes that blur the boundaries between the comfortable and the unknown, from the towering Empire State Building to the twinkling lights of the city in the distance. This juxtaposition weaves a subtle narrative. The interior is quiet and introspective, while the city outside the window pulses with movement, energy and possibility.

My brushes are precise and expressive, conveying details such as the sheen of polished wood and the supple surface of the red leather chair, and lending a dreamy softness through the skillful use of light and reflection.

This interplay of texture and lighting gives my work a surreal yet ethereal quality, evoking a world that exists beyond reality. My interiors are not just rooms, but living experiences that invite contemplation, conversation and discovery. Whether it is the quiet solitude of a library, the exquisite stillness of a bar or the mesmerizing glow of city

lights streaming through a window, each scene captures a moment when time seems to be suspended, allowing the viewer to immerse themselves in their own imagined narrative. Through a complex fusion of color, light and architecture, the artist creates a visual poetry that transforms the familiar into the extraordinary.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

For me, art has always been more than just creative expression; it is a powerful force that calms the mind, adds beauty to life, and brings positive energy to the soul. I believe in the transformative power of art to uplift and inspire, creating moments of peace and connection in a busy world. My creative journey is deeply rooted in my desire to make my parents proud and prove to them and myself that I can succeed as an artist. My parents’ support and faith in me fuels my determination to grow and share my art with the world.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

My greatest joy as an artist comes from creating artwork that resonates deeply with people, evokes true emotions, and is a source of comfort and inspiration. It is fulfilling to know that my art can touch hearts, uplift spirits, and bring positive energy into the lives of those who experience it. My desire is to continue to share beauty and connection and make a meaningful difference through every piece I create.

<a
